Our Story

The sole owner of Maple Leaf Meats and Bushy's Meat Market Codey Bisek has always had a passion for meat producing and exploring new seasoning blends. 

He started at the young age of 12 at Bushy's Meat Market helping skin and cut deer. He would continue helping out seasonally for the next dozen or so years.  In his free time he would process his own venison at home- from grinding, to hand crank stuffing or utilizing his jerky gun and into his Cabela's dehydrator.  In 2017 a local butcher shop came up for sale, with the drive and desire Codey went to the bank to pitch his purchase, but unfortunately at that time the numbers didn't pan out. With that same desire in 2021 Tony Johnson decided it was time to retire and put Pat's Country Market up for sale. This time Codey would not take no for an answer and in October of 2021 bought his first meat market, he acquired all the wonderful Pat's recipes that have come to be loved by so many over the years of Pat's originating in Arcadia, WI and later being moved to Whitehall, WI, along with some great insight from Tony and his employees.

Over the next few years discussions and dreams were held on how to be able to bring more to the shop and if we could bring in more venison for wild game processing, without the extra space onsite that vision became more difficult to pull together. That is until in 2023 Codey was approached by Randy Symicek about purchasing Bushy's Meat Market, back to the roots of it all. With the vision of expansion already in play, it was an offer that could not be refused. Not only did Codey acquire new recipes, more accessibility to deer and wild game processing but also was introduced to adding a bakery component to the business with Buff's Bake Shop that sells the traditional Lorraine's Coffee Cakes.

The visions of expansion continue while the business operates under the philosophy "Small enough to know you, yet big enough to serve you".  We love being able to provide our local towns with their favorite recipes but look forward to sharing our products on a bigger scale!
